In the Schrijven (writing) exam you write short texts you really need in the Netherlands: an e-mail to a colleague, a note for the neighbours, a short piece for the neighbourhood paper, and you fill in a form. It is about being understood, not about elegant sentences.
DUO's own practice exams for A2 have 4 tasks, and you get 40 minutes.
At A2 you take this exam with pen and paper. That surprises many people who have only practised on a keyboard, so write by hand a few times during your preparation.
